Joe Lycett has shared a picture of the shredder he’s said to use to shred £10,000 if David Beckham doesn’t act on his World Cup ultimatum.

Last week, the comedian posted a video on social media in which he addressed Beckham directly about his deal to promote the World Cup in Qatar.

In the video, Lycett said he would donate £10,000 to charities supporting gay people in football if Beckham pulls out of his reported £10m deal due to the country’s stance on LGBT+ issues.

If Beckham doesn’t do so, Lycett said he would shred the £10,000 and stream it live on site BendersLikeBeckham.com at 12pm on Sunday (November 20).

While the footballer said this week that the 2022 World Cup would be a “platform for progress,” he has not commented on Lycett’s comments.

On Friday (November 18), Lycett upped the ante when he posted a picture on Instagram of the large shredder he would be using.

“48 hours to go [money emoji]’ Lycett wrote, adding the hashtag, ‘#benderslikebeckham.’

He also tagged Beckham in the picture.

In his first video, Lycett called on Beckham to stand up for the LGBT+ community, branded him a “gay icon” and ally, and joked he’d married a Spice Girl, “which is the gayest thing a person can do.”

“Qatar was voted as one of the worst places in the world for gay people,” Lycett said. “Homosexuality is illegal, punishable by imprisonment and, if you’re a Muslim, possibly even death.”

On Wednesday (November 16), after not hearing from Beckham, the comedian shared an email he sent to the sports star’s publicist in which he admitted he was “a little bit stuck.” .

“I’ve been a bit stupid and have publicly announced I’ll shred £10,000 on Sunday if David doesn’t end his relationship with Quatar or donate money to LGBT+ charities if he does, but we’ve got four days out now and I didn’t hear a peep from him,” he wrote.

“Could you give me some consolation and let me know if there’s a chance he’ll deviate from his position, or should I expect radio silence on that?” I really don’t want to shred 10 grand!!!”
