Meet Jimmy Buffett’s wife, Jane Slagsvol
Jimmy has been married twice in his life. The singer was previously married to her ex-wife Margie Washichek. The couple were married for three years between 1969 and 1972.
He married Jane in 1977 and they remained together until Jimmy’s death. Jimmy and Jane first met in Key West, Florida in the early ’70s when the latter was a student at the University of South Carolina. He told In Time Magazine in 1998 he wrote that he “saw Jane in a tight, long pink dress that made a lasting impression on me”.
Jane played a pivotal role in Jimmy’s career. In his bio, Jimmy Buffett: A Good Life All The Way, the singer praised his wife for cleaning up his band’s “grungy look.” He said that gave the bandmates professionalism by changing their clothes.
According to the story, the couple briefly split in the early ’80s. Jane left Jimmy because the party lifestyle was becoming too much for her.
