Jim Carrey has questioned the new portrayal of the Riddler The Batman.

Carrey admitted he hasn’t seen the film yet, but suggested he’d seen footage of Paul Dano’s Riddler in the blockbuster and been left cold.

Regarding the darker version of the Riddler, who is portrayed in the film as a Zodiac-style serial killer, Carrey said he was concerned that the character’s actions in the film could encourage mimicry behavior.

“It’s a very dark version,” he said Unilad. “I see this with mixed feelings. To each their own and such.”

However, Carrey said of Dano, “I love him as an actor; he’s a great actor.”

“I’m a little worried because I’m putting gaffer tape on people’s faces and encouraging people to do the same,” he said. “Some crazy people out there who could adopt this method.”

Defends his own roles, including the villainous Robotnik in the new film Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey said, “I have a conscience about the things I choose. Robotnik has comic bombs and nobody gets hurt.”

He continued, “I know there’s a place for it and I don’t want to criticize it, but it’s not my thing … it’s very well done, these films are very well done.”

Carrey previously denounced his appearance in kick ass 2 Months after the Sandy Hook shootings in June 2013.

He wrote on Twitter: “I did kick ass 2 a month b4 sandy hook and now i can’t in good conscience support this level of violence. I apologize to others involved[d] with the movie. I’m not ashamed of it, but recent events have made a change in my heart.”

“For a sequel to the movie that gave us Hit Girl, there was always some blood on the floor and that shouldn’t have come as a shock to a guy who loved the first movie so much.”
