Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez unveil space plans as they praise each other in first interview together

Teamwork makes the romance, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his longtime girlfriend Lauren Sánchez enthused in their first interview as a couple.
Bezos, the fourth richest person in the world, and journalist Sanchez shared their mutual admiration during an interview with CNN.
“We’re really great teammates and we have a lot of fun together,” said Sánchez. “And we love each other … We always look at each other and we are the team.”
Bezos added that “it’s easy.”
“We bring each other energy, we respect each other. So it’s fun to work together,” said the online retail titan.
Bezos, 58, who is also the founder of space company Blue Origin, said he hopes to make space travel accessible to everyone – and believes that anyone who wants to should be able to travel to space during their lifetime.
“Let me give you an example. The Wright brothers flew this tiny little plane just a few hundred feet away. And if you told the Wright brothers in a hundred years there was going to be a 787 that carried 400 people , they would laugh,” Bezos said.

Sánchez, 52, an Emmy-winning journalist, claimed she plans to go into space in 2023 accompanied by a “great group of women.” Sánchez is also a licensed pilot and founder of Black Ops Aviation, the first aerial film and production company owned and operated by women.
“I also learned how to fly the helicopter,” Bezos said, making Sanchez laugh. “And she’s a terrible backseat pilot. She’s terrible!’
Sánchez countered that she “realized that when I’m in the back of the helicopter, when it’s flying, I just have to look out the window, just enjoy the scenery.

“I say, ‘No, no. Pulling up. OK. Ok, slow down.’ But he’s very good,” she said.
The normally private couple also spoke about their typical weekends, admitting that Saturday nights consist of watching movies and spending time with their families.
“We can be kind of boring,” Sánchez said. “Normally I would say. We have dinner with the kids. It’s always fun and a great conversation. There are seven of us, so there is a lot of discussion. And then we’ll see a movie… by committee. It takes a long time to find this film.”
“We probably spend more time choosing the film than we need to,” Bezos added.
During the interview, Bezos also revealed that he plans to give away most of his wealth during his lifetime, admitting he doesn’t yet have a plan for how to spend his billions on issues like climate change.

He said he plans to make time for it.
“It’s not easy,” Bezos said. “Building Amazon was not easy. It took a lot of hard work, a bunch of very smart teammates, hardworking teammates, and I think – and I think Lauren thinks the same thing – that charity, philanthropy, is very similar.
“There are a number of ways that I think you could do ineffective things as well,” he added. “So you have to think carefully about it and have brilliant people on the team.”
Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, has given away nearly $4 billion to 465 organizations in less than a year and has doubled that amount in the past two years.
