Jay Z and Timbaland were known for their many hits in the music industry. But while the two are known to work well together, differences led to a temporary rift between the pair. The rap mogul once revealed that this divide was driven by clashing egos.
Jay-Z revealed that his ego caused him and Timbaland to break up
Jay-Z and prolific producer Timbaland have put out many well-known hits over the years. “Hey Papi”, “Holy Grail” and “Dirt Off Your Shoulder” are just a few of their successful albums. “When you go and make an album you have to put all ego aside… he didn’t accept that and that was almost the last straw and we just went our separate ways,” he continued.
Timbaland admitted he was wrong

Timbaland and Jay-Z would not allow the rift to do any permanent or irreparable damage. The producer would later reconcile with The billionaire rapperput their differences aside to continue working together.
“After those shows and he came back, I had seen a new Timbaland, he had this maturity and growth and I was like, ‘Oh, ok, this is going to work,'” revealed Jay-Z.
Timbaland would later confirm that he went through a certain period of growth that gave him the clarity he needed to apologize.
“It was about the little things,” Timbaland said in an interview with revolt. “It was more personal and I was wrong. I was wrong. When I worked with Justin [Timberlake], he texted me. ‘We need to talk. We need to reunite.’”
When Timbaland and Jay-Z officially met after their argument, it was a touching moment between the two.
“We looked at each other and just hugged,” he continued. “He said, ‘What did you do, man?’ “Man,” I said, “I’m right. I’m back. I made the right decision.” He said, ‘You look very different.’ I thought, ‘I get it now. I understand life a little bit better.’”
