Jay Leno jokes about being a “roast comic” as he returns to the stage

Jay Leno is fired up and ready to return to the stand-up stage just days after being released from Los Angeles’ Grossman Burn Center.
The comedian, 72, suffered second and third degree burns to his body from a petrol garage fire that happened two weeks ago.
On Sunday, Leno appeared at the Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California for a show where he joked about the incident.
“I never saw myself as a roast comedian,” the former talk show host quipped when he arrived at the event. “We have two shows tonight: regular and extra crispy.”
He continued: “I feel good. Thanks, people.”
An observer told NBC News After the performance, Leno “looked great and had a lot of stamina”.
Another person revealed to the outlet that the “Jay Leno’s Garage” star was “high on energy” during the stand-up set and “told joke after joke after joke.”
Leno was admitted to the Grossman Burn Center on November 12 after suffering painful burns to his face, chest and hands in the fire.

“Some of the facial burns are a little deeper and more worrisome,” said Dr. Peter Grossman, medical director of the Grossman Burn Center, in a statement following the trauma.
He continued: “I assume he will make a full recovery. Whether they will be remnants of this injury is too early to say. I would say his injuries are serious, his condition is good.”
The hospital also noted in a statement, “Jay wants everyone to know how grateful he is for the care he has received and is very appreciative of all the well wishes.”
The prankster was even spotted driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG to his garage in Burbank, California, on November 22 — the same spot where the incident happened just days earlier.
He seemed in high spirits and even teased reporters that he “needed a barbecue” as he pulled into his garage.
“Keep up! Everything is fine – everything is fine,” Leno replied to photographers who asked how he was doing.
Leno’s pal Jerry Seinfeld recently gave an update about his friend on Nov. 24 during his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“I spoke to Jay yesterday. He’s doing great,” revealed the 68-year-old “Seinfeld” star.
He continued: “I’m on the phone with Jay. . . That’s how crazy Jay is, he’s completely crazy. He doesn’t want sympathy. You know how he is, he’s a beast mode. He’s like [football running back] Marshawn Lynch.”
Seinfeld then recalled asking Leno about his health and the Popular Mechanics columnist changing the subject and talking about the weather.
Brooklyn native Seinfeld joked, “He said, ‘I’m fine. I heard there was a lot of snow. Was there much snow in the East?’ ”
