Janey Godley has revealed to fans her cancer has returned.
The Scottish comedian was initially diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer in November 2021 and underwent a full hysterectomy in January 2022 to treat it.
In June, she announced she was cancer-free, telling her followers in an emotional clip, “There are no signs of the disease.”
However, in a video shared to social media on Tuesday (December 13), Godley gave an update on her health and said she will resume cancer treatment.
“My last scan and blood tests showed my cancer markers went up and there’s still a bit of disease in my stomach,” she said.
“So, I want you all to know that I’m going through one more round of chemotherapy.”
Godley is set to tour in early 2023 and has assured fans of her intention to pull off the shows.
She continued: “I would also like to let you know that I will be continuing the tour in February and March. I’m determined to get back on stage.
“I’m looking forward to the tour, I think it’s fair and honest to say it may be the last time you see me live on stage. I hope that’s not the case, but I think it’s a fair guess.”
Fans and colleagues have responded to Godley’s news with messages of encouragement.
Scottish actor Sean Biggerstaff replied: “Really brave Janey. Fingers crossed for the best possible result and good luck for the tour.”
Another supportive message reads: “You are an inspiration to all, a beautiful woman with a big heart and a fighting spirit. So sad to hear your news today.”
Elsewhere, a fan assured Godley that they would support her if she decided to continue her treatment.
“Janey, we love you no matter what you choose,” the message begins. “We’d love to see you if you make it, but please don’t pressure yourself. As always, you have our support. Please take care of yourself.”
