Gal Gadot wasn’t “booted” from her Wonder Woman role, James Gunn has claimed.
In October, it was announced that Gunn had been hired as DC Studios’ new co-chairman and CEO, along with Peter Safran.
What followed in December included the cancellation of wonder woman 3 and last week the news that Henry Cavill would not continue as Superman.
On Monday (19.12.) Guardians of the Galaxy Director Gunn issued a clarification to a follower in a post, writing that some of the reactions to his appointment had been “roared and unkind.”
After the fan wrote that while they were supportive of Gunn, “the move to boot Cavill and Gadot (especially after they announced their return) doesn’t inspire confidence,” Gunn replied, “I’m not sure what you’re getting at with that.” we ‘booted’ Gal.”
Gadot had tweeted that she was so excited to share Wonder Woman’s “next chapter” with her fans, two days before it was announced that the project would not go ahead.
The Independent has reached out to Gadot representatives for comment.
However, Gunn did not deny that he fired Cavill from Superman.
Last week, Cavill announced on Instagram that he would no longer be playing the Man of Steel in the DC Universe, adding that the decision wasn’t his own.
“I won’t be returning as Superman after all,” he wrote. “Having been told by the studio to announce my return in October ahead of their hiring, this news isn’t the easiest of news, but such is life.”
Cavill announced his departure from Netflix in October The Witcher After three seasons, Liam Hemsworth takes on the role of Geralt of Rivia.
The news came days after Gunn shut down rumors that he dislikes Cavill.
