James Corden parodies The Beatles: Back in ‘genius’ Late Late Show sketches

James Corden parodyed The Beatles documentary Return in a sketch for The Late Late Show.

The clip shows Corden edited into archival footage of the famed rock ‘n’ roll band, playing the stellar Fifth Beatle called Gary Thump.

During sketching, Corden’s character struggles to play the guitar, announces that he has joined a cult, and tries to introduce some terrible songs to the rest of the band.

After watching Paul McCartney perform “Let It Be,” Thump said: “You know how hard Paul, A put in effort, but let it happen, let it go. If you’re looking for a beat tune, this isn’t it. “

You can check out a clip from the sketch below.

Return was released last month in three installments Disney Plus.

Directed by Lord of the Rings Filmmaker Peter Jackson, the series is based on 60 hours of footage captured during The Beatles’ “Get Back” performances in January 1969, leading up to their rooftop concert.

Fans responded positively to Corden’s parody, with one viewer writing: “This is comedy genius. I wonder what Sir Paul would think of it? Next, I’d like to see them document Paul McCartney watching and reacting to this….”

“Funny,” wrote another.
