Jake Pauls claims to Eddie Hearn that he will defeat Canelo in the future

Jake Paul and boxing promoter Eddie Hearn got into a slightly heated interview when the YouTuber claimed he would beat any of Hearn’s up-and-coming fighters and then go after Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Although Jake Paul only has a 5-0 record and has not fought a “real” boxer in that time, he is extremely confident in his boxing abilities. Whether it’s his own fight or someone else’s, the YouTuber is confident he’ll beat anyone.

The 25-year-old returns to the ring in August after taking time off to focus on the promotional side of the sport as he built hype around the Armando Serrano vs. Katie Taylor megafight.

While promoting Serrano’s side of things, Taylor is part of the Matchroom Boxing stable and works alongside Eddie Hearn – who isn’t shy about opening up about Jake’s boxing career. So much so that the two got a little heated in a pre-fight interview.

Jake Paul & Eddie Hearn heated debate over world champion boxing claims

Paul and Hearn performed one of their last preliminary fights media scrums before the fight at Madison Square Garden when Jake talked about becoming world champion and possibly fighting Canelo, someone who also works with Hearn.

“Everyone has the right to have a dream, I mean it. I don’t think there’s any way he can beat a world champion,” Hearn said of Jake’s future, before questioning why the YouTuber hasn’t had to fight a “real life” boxer just yet. Jake took offense at this, pointing out how he had beaten Tyron Woodley twice.

“I give you the credit, you’re always improving, but the proof will be in the pudding,” Hearn added. “I’ve said I think Jake Paul is better than some fighters, but I don’t think you’ll ever come close to a world-class fighter.”

The pair didn’t stop there, however, as Jake claimed he could beat any of Hearn’s fighters in any weight class provided they have fewer than 10 fights under their belt. He even quizzed Canelo’s future opponent Dmitry Bivol – a 19-0 world champion.

“I’ve already said I’m down. We bet a million bucks, I’ll take on anyone on your less than 10 fight list, no problem,” Jake said. “And that’s how it is now. Just wait, give me a few years brother, I’ve come for your boy Canelo. It’s up to God.โ€

While he may be far from it now, Jake hasn’t shied away from his desire to fight someone like Canelo – who boxes Pound for Pound King.

If Hearn is right, it probably never will, but Jake has silenced a lot of critics up to this point, so who knows.
