“It’s terrifying:” Bus passengers stranded in Raleigh overnight

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — Several people were stuck overnight at a Raleigh bus depot when the driver locked a bus and departed, according to passengers.

It started with a 15-minute layover in Raleigh but grew to a nearly two-hour delay.

Sherri Palmer, a passenger, told CBS 17 the bus arrived from New York around 1 a.m. Friday morning and the driver told them to get off the bus and leave their belongings there.

After getting off the bus, Palmer said the driver locked the bus and left; She said about 40 people, including some children, were stranded in the parking lot.

However, her biggest concern was that her son’s oxygen tank charger was left on the locked bus.

“It’s scary; my child is my life I’m very upset with the way things turned out,” Palmer said.

EMS was called to help with this medical need until the bus station opened at 3:30 am

Palmer hopes they can get on another bus and go home to Tennessee.

CBS 17 reached out to Greyhound for an answer, but they haven’t responded yet.
