In the mid-1990s, singer/pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion became friends while living in the same dormitory at University College of London. (UCL).

All four have a deep passion for music, they decided to form a band. However, they don’t call themselves Coldplay. The name Coldplay was actually used by another band at the time. So they named their band Starfish.

But, the other band eventually changed its name. When this happens, Starfish officially becomes Coldplay.

In a new interview for the BBC, Chris Martin has said Coldplay will hang up their guitars in 2025.

“I know I can tell you: our last proper record is coming out in 2025 and then I think we’ll just be touring,” Martin said in a preview clip. .

“Maybe we’ll do some collaborative work but catalog Coldplay when it’s done then.”
