Iona McGregor Fire District responds to tornadoes EF2

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Iona McGregor Fire District provided a closer look at the damage in the area following the EF2 tornado via Facebook.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the tornado hit the Iona area with peak winds of up to 118 mph.

According to the NWS, 108 mobile homes were damaged in three different communities, 51 homes were severely damaged and 30 mobile homes were destroyed.

Fire officials Iona McGregor are advising residents to exercise caution if they visit their home. Officials have also asked non-residents to stay away from the area as the situation remains dangerous.
