IT’S NO secret that some of Hollywood’s hottest couples have huge age gaps.
Here are 25 celebrity couples with the biggest age gaps, from Dick Van Dyke’s 46-year-younger wife to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s decade-wide age difference.
DICK VAN DYKE AND ARLENE SILVER
Dick Van Dyke, 96, turned heads in February when he and his wife, Arlene Silver, 40, danced around in a video for her cover of Doris Day’s 1958 hit Everybody Loves a Lover.
The pair got married in 2012 after meeting at the 2006 SAG Awards, where Arlene did his makeup.
In 2013, Arlene told the HuffPost that she and Dick immediately got along as friends and that she never felt like he was that much older.
Dick was previously married to the mother of his four kids, Margie Willett, for 36 years and dated actress Michelle Triola for more than three decades until her death in 2009.
DENNIS QUAID AND LAURA SAVOIE
Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie eloped in 2020 after the Covid-19 pandemic got in the way of their previous plans to wed in Hawaii.
“It was love at first sight,” he told People of their romance, which began in May 2019.
“I just love who she is as a person,” he gushed.
“Her character, her intelligence, of course, her beauty.
“And her point of view of the world.”
Of course, their relationship has been questioned and criticized due to their heavy age gap, but Dennis doesn’t let it get to him.
“I didn’t go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me,” Quaid told The Guardian in 2019.
“I met her at a business event and then the relationship developed. … I don’t fall in love easy.
“But I can’t let what a few people think control all that.”
DAVID FOSTER AND KATHERINE MCPHEE
David Foster and Katherine McPhee first met when Katherine was a contestant on American Idol in 2006.
He, along with opera singer Andrea Bocelli, prepared Katherine to sing Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing, which David wrote.
The two remained friends and David even sang at Katherine’s 2008 wedding to Nick Coka.
However, both musicians were divorced by 2017, and dating rumors began to fly as the pair were seen out and about together.
Despite denying rumors for months, the pair made their romantic relationship public at the 2018 Met Gala.
They got married in London in 2019 and had their first child together in February 2021.
BILLY JOEL AND ALEXIS RODERICK
“Piano Man” Billy Joel and wife Alexis Roderick “surprised guests at their annual July 4th party by exchanging vows in front of their family and close friends” in 2020, according to the singer’s representative in a statement to People.
They share two children together.
SARAH PAULSON AND HOLLAND TAYLOR
While Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor met in 2005, they didn’t find love until 2015.
In an interview with WNYC (via The Wrap) that year, Holland announced she was in a relationship with an unnamed woman who was much younger.
She and Sarah made their first public appearance at the Critics’ Choice Awards in 2016 and confirmed their romance in March of that year.
In an interview with The New York Times, Sarah called the attention over her relationship “surreal.”
ALEC BALDWIN AND HILARIA BALDWIN
Alec Baldwin saw Hilaria Baldwin at a restaurant in New York City in 2011 and was immediately enchanted.
He pursued her and she agreed to go on a date after some hesitation, and the rest is history.
The pair got engaged in 2012 after about a year of dating and were married just months later.
Speaking of their instant connection in an interview with Beach magazine in 2013 (via Entertainment Tonight), Hilaria said: “I think we knew fairly soon [we’d get engaged] because we built a real relationship very early on.
“We got to know each other in a way I think most people forgo if they start dating first, then learn about each other after.”
The pair has since welcomed six children together.
MICHAEL DOUGLAS AND CATHERINE-ZETA JONES
Actor Michael Douglas and actress Catherine Zeta-Jones have been together for more than two decades, meeting at a film festival in 1996 and walking down the aisle in 2000.
In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight‘s Nischelle Turner, Michael claimed he knew Catherine was special almost immediately.
“The first time I ever met her I found out we had the same birthday and I told her: ‘I’m going to be the father of your children,'” he recalled.
“I found out she played golf.
“I melted right there.
“She looked straight into my eyes, and that was it.”
The couple shares three kids together and are grandparents to two.
BRUCE WILLIS AND EMMA HEMING
Bruce Willis wasn’t looking for love when he met Emma Heming, but he described their instant connection in a 2009 interview with W magazine (via Access).
“We went on one date, on the Friday before Emma was getting ready to move back to New York, and then we fell mad crazy in love,” he explained.
The two tied the knot in 2009 – with Bruce’s ex-wife, Demi Moore, in attendance – and share two children together.
LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND CAMILA MORRONE
Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have been dating since 2018.

That’s basically the same thing, right?
HARRISON FORD AND CALISTA FLOCKHART
Star Wars legend Harrison Ford and actress Calista Flockhart met at the 2002 Golden Globes and walked down the aisle in 2010 after eight years of dating.
To them, age is just a number.
And in fact, Calista sometimes feels like she’s the older one in the relationship.
“It doesn’t faze me,” she told Hello! about their 20-year age gap in 2003.
“Sometimes I even say: ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me.’
“It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all.”
EDDIE MURPHY AND PAIGE BUTCHER
Eddie Murphy and Paige Butcher have been dating since 2012 and got engaged in 2018.
They are very private about their relationship, as Paige deleted her social media because she became uncomfortable with the attention she received from dating such a star, despite being an actress herself.
“I’m in a relationship with a celebrity, so I felt like there’s already enough of me out there,” she explained to Vanity Fair in 2013.
“I felt like I was giving out too much information.
“I was giving people too much access.
“I like to keep as much private as possible now.”
The couple shares two children together, although Eddie has 10 in total.
GEORGE AND AMAL CLOONEY
Amal Clooney successfully took one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors off the market after she met George Clooney in 2013.
George was so taken aback by his newfound love that within six months, he popped the question and they made their union official in 2014.
Speaking to CBS about their love in 2020, George said: “There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me.
“It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me.”
TOM KAULITZ AND HEIDI KLUM
Singer Tom Kaulitz and supermodel Heidi Klum began dating in 2018.
People immediately began commenting on their 17-year age gap, and Heidi let InStyle know in 2018 that she wasn’t letting people’s skepticism get to her.
“My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it,” she explained.
“That’s really the only time when age seems to be shoved in my face and I have to give an answer for it.
“I don’t really think about it that much otherwise.
“You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles.”
Heidi married Tom in 2019.
ELLEN DEGENERES AND PORTIA DE ROSSI
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been together since 2004 and have been married since 2008, shortly after same-sex marriages became legal in the state of California.
Neither of them has been shy about how much their love means to them.
“Portia understands me completely,” Ellen gushed to Good Housekeeping in 2017.
“In our vows, she recited a quote: ‘It is good to be loved. It is profound to be understood.’
“And to me, that’s everything.
“What ‘I love you’ really means is: ‘I understand you,’ and she loves me for everything that I am.”
And when Ellen came under fire over allegations of a toxic work environment on her show in 2020, Portia posted a message on Instagram stating that she stands by her wife and her character.
MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY AND CAMILA ALVES
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves began dating after meeting at a Hollywood nightclub in 2006.
In a 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey for Apple TV+’s The Oprah Conversation, Matthew described seeing his future wife as love at first sight.
By 2010, the couple had two children together, and Matthew knew this was going to be a lifelong love.
In fact, he even recalled deciding to give up his Hollywood bachelor pad to design a family home with Camila in a 2011 interview with Esquire.
“Before this, I had a super home in the Hollywood Hills that I did by myself – landscaping, detailing pretty much everything,” he explained.
He knew Camila would have been happy in the home, but admitted he wanted something that was equally theirs.
“But I thought, I found the woman I wanna do it with, the woman I wanna make a family with, hopefully, live our life out together.
“She needs to have 50 percent of that.”
The two tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed their third child the same year.
PETE DAVIDSON AND KIM KARDASHIAN
One of the hottest and arguably most surprising couples in Hollywood, comedian Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian began dating after they met on the set of Saturday Night Live in October 2021.
Pete called Kim his “girlfriend” for the first time in public while speaking to People (The TV Show!) in January.
While they have kept their relationship fairly low profile (aside from the occasional public kiss), Kim’s estranged husband, Kanye West, has helped keep the couple in the headlines by publicly dissing Pete and declaring his love for Kim.
HUGH JACKMAN AND DEBORRA LEE-FURNESS
Aussie actors Hugh Jackman and Deborra Lee-Furness prove that age is just a number when it comes to love.
The couple has been married for 25 years, and Hugh shared a sweet Instagram tribute to his wife on their anniversary in 2021.
“Being married to you Deb is as natural as breathing,” he stated at the top of his post.
“From nearly the moment we met … I knew our destiny was to be together.
“In our 25 years – our love has only grown deeper.
“The fun, excitement and adventure more exhilarating; the learning even greater.”
He continued: “I’m forever grateful to share our love, our life – and, our family together.
“We’ve only just begun.”
JAY-Z AND BEYONCE
Musicians Jay-Z and Beyonce met when Beyonce was 18 years old and have basically been inseparable since.
They tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2008 and welcomed daughter Blue Ivy Carter in 2012 and twins Rumi Carter and Sir Carter in 2017.
They’re not only partners in life and raising children, they’ve also co-headlined a tour together.
Talk about couple goals!
JULIUS TENNON AND VIOLA DAVIS
Viola Davis had just about given up on love before she met Julius Tennon.
“I was the loneliest woman in the world, and someone said: ‘You should just pray for a husband,'” Viola told Page Six in 2013.
“I said I wanted a big black man from the South who looked like a football player, who already had children, who maybe had been married before.”
Just weeks later, her prayers were answered, and she met her future husband.
Julis – who had been married twice and had two kids from his first marriage – wed Viola in 2003.
In 2011, they adopted daughter Genesis Tennon.
WILLIAM H. MACY AND FELICITY HUFFMAN
Actors William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman had an on-and-off relationship for about 15 years, but made their union official 1997.
Their secret to a long and happy marriage? Talking.
“Once a week we do sit down and make sure we take half an hour … just to talk, with no crosstalk,” Felicity told HuffPost in 2014.
“I talk, then you talk.
“You kind of just deeply check in with the other person.
“When you have 15 minutes to talk … you kind of actually see what’s going on with the other person without any talk-back.”
They share two daughters together and became the second couple to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame stars on the same day in 2012.
CHRIS PRATT AND KATHERINE SCHWARZENEGGER
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger were first spotted together in the summer of 2018, about six months after Chris filed for divorce from ex and mother of his first child, Anna Faris.
In December 2018, Chris and Katherine made their love Instagram official and just one month later, they were engaged.
They tied the knot in June 2019 and gushed about their special day on social media.
“Yesterday was the best day of our lives!
“We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love,” Katherine wrote of the celebration alongside a picture walking in her wedding dress with Chris.
“It was intimate, moving, and emotional.
“We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives.”
She added that she felt “nothing but blessed.”
The two welcomed their first child in August 2020 and are expecting their second this year.
RYAN REYNOLDS AND BLAKE LIVELY
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are a crowd favorite because they don’t take each other too seriously.
For instance, Blake expertly trolled her husband when he was honored at Time’s 100 most influential people gala in 2017.
She shared a dark, blurry photo of Ryan on Instagram, but instead dedicated the caption to John Legend.
“Congratulations to the most influential person in my life,” she wrote.
“The best man I know… you deserve this @time 100 honor … If only my husband wasn’t blocking you in this shot.
“I’m so sorry @johnlegend.”
Ryan and Blake tied the knot in 2012 and share three kids together.
ADAM LEVINE AND BEHATI PRINSLOO
Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine started dating Behati Prinsloo shortly after ending things with Behati’s fellow Victoria’s Secret model, Anne Vyalitsyna, in 2012.
After a year of dating – which included a two-month break up – the lovers announced their engagement in July 2013 and walked down the aisle in 2014.
Similar to how Amal Clooney changed George Clooney’s perspective on life, Adam admitted Behati did the same for him in regard to marriage.
“Famous last words: ‘I’ll never get married,'” he joked while speaking to Jay Leno in 2013.
“I still don’t necessarily think you have to get married unless you meet someone that makes you want to marry them.
“And then you marry them and it’s wonderful.”
IAN SOMERHALDER AND NIKKI REED
Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed began dating in 2014 and were photographed on casual dates around Los Angeles together.
They married each other in 2015 and welcomed a son, Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder, in 2017.
NICK JONAS AND PRIYANKA CHOPRA
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra made headlines in 2017 when they attended the Met Gala together, but kept their lips sealed about their relationship status.
In fact, Priyanka told Jimmy Kimmel that they went together because neither had dates.
“Yeah, we were on the same table and we already know each other,” she explained.
“So he was like: ‘Hey, you wanna go together?’ And I was like: ‘Yeah, okay, let’s go together.’
“It ended up working out.”
It did indeed, as one year later, the two were attending family gatherings together and leaving flirtatious messages on each other’s social media pages.
The couple announced their engagement in August 2018 and were married by December.
They welcomed a baby girl via surrogate in January.
