Inside The Apprentice’s Losers Cafe

FANS of BBC One hit business competition The Apprentice will no doubt recognize the iconic cafe when it returns to the screening room on Thursday night.

The fat spoon – where candidates are sent to discuss their difficult tasks after a long day of hard work – is a much-loved part of the show.

On Thursday night, the losers among the new hopefuls in this year’s series were sent directly to the restaurant to argue about what happened during the missions.

The group of boys – who failed to impress Lord Alan Sugar with the Neverending Nautical cruise ship idea – head to the cafe for a cup of tea.

Meanwhile, the winners – the girls – enjoy luxuries on behalf of Lord Alan, 74, as they research their glamorous new peaches in the coming weeks.

Not many viewers know that the infamous coffee shop is actually real and serves the daily customers as well as the business wants. Probationer.

The Bridge Cafe – located in West London’s Acton – is a bustling breakfast spot for Londoners as well as reality TV entrepreneurs.

The show’s producers have also previously used another nearby cafe – La Cabana in Willesden – which was first introduced in 2017.

Filming usually takes place at a combination of two cafes, which are both loved by both despite their somewhat dated appearance.

The second mock location is said to be used to give a more dramatic look to the casual Bridge cafe on the west side of the capital.

So much so that Dean Ahmad, a participant in series 15 of The Apprentice, left a compelling review of the place on TripAdvisor after an afternoon there.

He wrote of this iconic cafe: “At the end of the day it may look like a dive but this cafe is the perfect hideaway for a man.

“I’ve found myself here a bit too much lately, having spent some of my darkest days in a barney ruin. But in 90p a cup and a quarter pound has caught my eye a few times, where the place is. This certainly deserves a call.”

The cafe – open to customers daily – has a solid 4.5-star rating from its guests, just behind La Cabana NW10s’ 4.8-star rating on Google.

The first episode of the new series The Apprentice sees young hopefuls make their way to Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyage train, the Scarlett Lady.

The teams, divided into men and women, were tasked with creating a cruise line brand to wow Lord Alan and his mentors Karen Brady and Tim Campbell.

However, when the boys failed to impress – it was Harry Mahmood who was ruthlessly fired and kicked out of the boardroom.

However, that didn’t stop business hopes from believing in themselves, as he insists he will “change the world” notwithstanding.

“I’m always optimistic no matter what happens in life,” Harry said of his exit, noting that he was described as a “troublemaker” by mentor Tim Campbell.

“The word disruptive, I consider it a positive because Lord Sugar is also considered a disruptor by many. I consider it an innovation and a breakthrough.

“Past and present people like Nelson Madela, Mother Teresa, Elon Musk, Muhammd Ali, and brands like Tesla and AirBnB, who are changing the fabric of the world we live in.”

“For me when I am branded as a troublemaker, I will come and change the world for the better,” concluded Harry, a medalist of the British Empire.

The businessman, who owns a medical network and a bath bomb business, also detailed how he “stopped licking his wounds” after being fired.

He added that he was “gutted and upset” because he wasn’t given the opportunity to be “project manager or deputy team leader” and show off all of his skills.

“I haven’t had a chance to do any of that which seems a bit suspicious and uncomfortable at the same time, but we draw a line and move on,” he added.
