She met Georgelas, a Plano, Texas native, through a marriage website in February 2003.

The two reportedly married within just a month of meeting at a Sharia ceremony. In October they had an official ceremony.

Georgelas was an American Muslim convert who became one of the group’s leading militants.

The couple traveled to England and Syria before settling in California.

But Georgelas would soon be behind bars and serving a 34-month sentence after being found guilty of illegally accessing American Israel Public Affairs Committee passwords.

He then had a three-year probationary period, which the couple spent in Texas.

The couple welcomed their third son in 2011. By that time, Georgela’s parole had expired and the couple moved to Cairo, Egypt.

According to the Daily Mail, it was around this time that Georgelas became involved with other radicals and jihadists.

In 2013, the couple then moved back to Syria. Joya then claims she was brainwashed by her then-husband.

Joya told the Daily Mail she had been raped repeatedly and asked Georgelas to take her to the Syrian border so she could escape.

Finally Georgelas agreed. He arranged a contact to fly Joya and the couple’s children to Istanbul.

They would move in with Georgelas’ parents while he stayed in Syria.

NEW NAME

Georgelas, who changed his name after joining Islamic State, reportedly died in 2017 while fighting in Syria.

Joya would then become estranged from Georgelas’ family. She then moved to Texas, where she married IT manager Craig Burma.

But Joya supposedly started an affair with Texas representative Van Taylor in October 2020.

According to Joya, the two met through the woman’s work as an ex-jihadist who helps reprogram extremists, as reported The Dallas Morning News.

Joya had told Taylor that she found him attractive and exchanged the two phone numbers.

LOYAL MISTRESS

“He said he wanted me to be his loyal, faithful and enduring lover,” Joya claimed to Breitbart.

They became physically intimate soon after, she said National file. Taylor had helped Joya financially and offered to buy her home for $600,000.

Taylor also reportedly helped Joya create a business plan for a gym she wanted to open.

She also revealed explicit text messages that Taylor allegedly sent her, in which she described specific sexual acts that Joya was asked to perform.

Towards the end, Joya claims she asked Taylor for $5,000 to pay for her credit card. According to Joya, Taylor was obliged, but in exchange for deleting additional text messages documenting the affair.

“I need help. I thought just help me because that’s the least — the very least — he can do,” Joya told The Dallas Morning News.

“For him it was like, ‘Okay, on condition you don’t tell anyone.’ … I didn’t want to say anything to anyone.”
