Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa was photographed floating aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as he began his 12-day vacation.

Maezawa cruised to the ISS earlier this week with her supporter Yozo Hirano and together they became The first self-funded space tourist to visit the debit lab in over a decade.

They joined Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin aboard the Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft and docked with the space station early Wednesday morning.

The three of them will document their time on the ISS for Mr. Maezawa’s YouTube channel.

‘I want to see Earth from space. I wanted to experience the opportunity to feel weightless,’ Mr Maezawa said at a pre-flight press conference.

While the exact amount the billionaire paid for the two tickets is a closely guarded secret, estimates put the number between $50 million and $60 million (£38 million – £45 million).

Maezawa, already successful in fashion, is also about to become the first paying customer for spaceflights hosted by Elon Musk’s private company SpaceX.

Instead of chasing what you like Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origins and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, SpaceX wants to send people even further into space.

Maezawa and his entourage planned a six-day trip around the moon with SpaceX – the first people to do so since astronauts aboard Nasa’s Apollo in 1972.
