‘I’m quite surprised’: Sky Sports pundit stunned by ‘very exciting’ news from Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Steven Caulker has praised the club’s move to sign Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

Steven Caulker has praised Tottenham Hotspur for signing Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson on deadline day.

Tottenham quit very, very late but signed their new attacker before the window slammed shut.

After weeks of speculation, Tottenham secured Johnson’s signing towards the closing stages of the transfer window.

Spurs spent quite a bit of money Spend £47.5million to bring the Welshman to North London.

Johnson is a quick forward who can play up front and will now bring great versatility to Ange Postecoglou’s attack.

Speed, versatility and native ability – Johnson ticks all the boxes for Tottenham when it comes to the ball.

Johnson was not booked in time for this weekend’s game against Burnley but rest assured Tottenham are ready to use their new striker after the international break.

Some Tottenham fans aren’t entirely convinced by the move.

Harry Kane decided to splurge on a forward who scored eight goals last season and it wasn’t to everyone’s liking.

Hopefully Johnson won’t be under the pressure of being seen as a direct “Kane replacement,” but he has plenty of goals to contribute.

However, the move has now been praised by a former Tottenham player, with Steven Caulker echoing his sentiment.

Caulker speaks along Sky Sports As one expert commented on Deadline (September 1, 4:40 p.m.), Johnson is a “really exciting” talent.

The 31-year-old – who is currently a free agent – admitted he was “quite surprised” Forest allowed Johnson to move to north London.

Caulker is also delighted that Tottenham have signed two home stars in Johnson and James Maddison and believes Spurs really are a team to watch under Ange Postecoglou this season.

“Yes, a really exciting young talent,” said Caulker. “I’m quite surprised Nottingham Forest are letting him go but it’s obviously a number where they felt they could get a replacement. I like the fact that Spurs have become British, they brought in Maddison who has started the season really, really well and.” “Like I said, I think they’re a club to watch this year should,” he added.
