I’m living in a bag after sewage flooded my house for 16 years and forced me to leave.

A freckled mother has been evicted from her home 16 years after a “whirlwind” of sewage began to overflow from her bathtub and sink while she was bathing.

Becky Blunden claims she’s been living in a shipping bag since November 28 after dirty water overflowed from the plugs and left the floor with faeces ankle deep.

44 years old, in Buxton in Derbyshire, was forced into a hotel – and told that her beloved home had turned into a “hole from hell”.

She cried as she told Sun Online: “I was standing in my bathtub taking a shower and I thought to myself, ‘Why isn’t the water draining?’

“Then I heard a loud gurgling sound from the sink, which was suddenly filled with faeces.

“The toilet was bubbling and the tub was full of poop too.”

She said the housing association responsible for the apartment has yet to replace the boards or skirting doors, which have swelled to twice their size due to the tides.

“They refused to change the bathtub or the toilet,” she said.

“The company is called Great Places, which is ironic. It’s more like a hole from hell.”

MOTHER’S MOMENT

Since then, she has been offered two properties by the housing association – but says neither is suitable.

The property manager says her home has now been cleaned up and she can safely start living there again.

However, Becky said: “I literally lost my home as a result of this.

“One of the assets I was offered was being around someone who was known to be a troublemaker, and the second was not suitable for someone with a disability.

“But I couldn’t return home either. Sewage from the neighbors’ apartments seeped into the walls and floors.

“There’s two inches of human waste there.

‘TWO WASTE MATERIALS’

“The only thing that was replaced was the tub’s control panel, but nobody cleaned the back of it first.

“Excretion has occurred underneath the kitchen unit.

“It just ruined my house.”

And she says she feels left out by Great Places – a claim denied by the company.

“No one wanted to help me,” she said.

“There was a piece of human waste on the picture I hung on the wall.

“Bacteria are everywhere. I just don’t know what to do.”

A Great Places spokesman said the baseboards in the kitchen and lobby had been “thoroughly cleaned”, but would be completely replaced upon request by Becky.

The toilet and tub don’t need to be replaced, he said, as they were cleaned and the compartment under the tub was cleaned before the control panel was replaced.

Cleaners checked kitchen cabinets and found no evidence of sewage seeping in, he added.

Simon Robinson, neighborhood director for the housing association, said: “We regret that Ms Blunden had to temporarily leave her property due to a collapsed sewer and as this has caused hardship. bear.

“As a responsible homeowner, we aim to resolve issues quickly. After unclogging the drain, we conduct a thorough property cleaning that has been inspected and approved by the local council.

“We have organized alternative accommodation and provided Ms Blunden with food and clothing and we will continue to provide support until she is able to return to her home.

“We understand that Ms Blunden is still unhappy with the situation and we are working with her to find a solution.”
