I’m a skincare guru and here are the beauty mistakes you’re making that are damaging your skin

Many of us already have our beauty routine – we know what we’re doing and we do the same thing on a regular basis.
But it turns out we may need to rethink…
A Skin Expert weighed in and told us about the beauty mistakes we’re making and that’s getting us to go public.
Turns out we shouldn’t be using makeup brushes AND we’ve been applying foundation wrong all our lives.
Direct fragrance teamed up with Skin Expert Laura Andrews to reveal common beauty mistakes that are damaging our skin.
It is often thought that only the best makeup brushes will improve our makeup routine, and they often come with a hefty price tag.
But actually we should use our fingers to apply foundation.
While the thought of applying foundation with our fingers may seem like a red flag, it turns out that our makeup brushes can be the cause of skin irritation and redness.
Laura Andrews says: “The natural warmth of your hands makes it easier to blend foundation with your fingers than using a brush on the applicator.
“The brush can tug at the skin and cause friction, which often leads to more sensitivity and redness.”
But we should not only apply foundation without a makeup brush, but also a concealer.
“When applying concealer under your eye area, use your ring finger and touch very gently as this helps the skin under the eyes to be much less pulled,” adds Laura.
There is also a common mistake that we make and that is how we use eyeliner.
Eyeliner is a must-have product we’re sure to find in many makeup bags across the UK, but Dr Nichola Cosgrove, founder of Natura Emporium, reveals that improper eyeliner can have can be the cause of wrinkles.
Dr Nichola Cosgrove explains: “A very common mistake people make when applying makeup is pulling and stretching the skin, especially around the eyes, when using eyeliner to get the perfect line. .
“What looks like light pulling at you is actually quite strong for our delicate eye skin.”
