But many viewers weren’t happy that the vote took place so soon.

I Am A Celebrity was canceled for a few days last week because Storm Arwen, and it was later revealed that there wouldn’t be any additional episodes to make up for the loss.

But before the news of Arlene’s disqualification, many fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment about it.

One person wrote on the social media platform: “Can’t believe someone got home already, that should have been extended by 3 days because of the storm.”

A second interjects: “as if someone had come home, that went too fast.”

A third added: “Absolutely ridiculous that someone would go home tonight when we barely got a chance to see anyone with proper airtime.”

Viewers got their first chance to weed out a celebrity at the start of tonight’s show, and they chose Arlene, who is the show’s oldest contestant at 78 years old.

Many fans went wild at the decision with one line reading: “Arlene Phillips out first. Naked ageism.”

Another tweeted: “Arlene has more life in her than many of them out there, ageism is alive and well…”

Speaking to Ant and Dec after they released their verdict to the public, she said she’s very disappointed with the news.

When asked if she struggled to keep order in the camp with the rows Naughty Boy considered himself to be, she said: “I tried to keep the leash steady.

“Of course, it’s hard to have arguments and sometimes those arguments are unnecessary.”

In previous years, the first exit took place only after 10 days but this year things were different due to Richard Madeley was forced to quit and the series aired against the backdrop of Storm Arwen.

Viewers usually vote for who they want to be King or Queen of the castle, and who has the least will be banished.
