I would have joked about Jada’s boyfriend

He would have gone for the carotid artery.
After Will Smith infamously hit Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022, Twitter debated whether the incident would have happened if Ricky Gervais was in Rock’s shoes. Well, the comedian recently chimed in, claiming he wasn’t poking fun at Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss like Rock did – but rather targeting their open relationship.
During an appearance in London, the 60-year-old ‘Afterlife’ creator said: “I’ll get it out of the way. I have no Will Smith material.” per mirror.
Of course, Gervais was referring to the incident that took place at the Oscars on Sunday, when the 53-year-old became Best Actor winner slammed Rock, 57, after the comedian cracked a bald joke about Jada speaking candidly about her ongoing battle with alopecia.
“I was trending when that happened and I wasn’t even there,” added the mastermind of The Office, who has hosted the Golden Globes five times but never the Oscars. “People were like, ‘What would have happened if Ricky Gervais had done it (host Oscars)?'”
Then he dropped the bomb.

“Well, nothing, as I didn’t make a joke about his wife’s hair,” Gervais said. “I would have made a joke about her boyfriend.”
The comedian was probably referring to 50-year-old Jada’s “entanglement” with much younger R&B singer August Alsina, May 29, who had claimed to have an intense affair with the actress. After years of rumors surrounding the seemingly sordid act, Will admitted in September that he and his wife were in an open relationship.
However, Gervais appeared to poke fun at the post-Oscar punch hair joke when he retweeted an old piece about alopecia from The Office.

Many social media users seemed to agree with Gervais, wondering why the “Hancock” actor would slap a comedian over a joke — rather than a man betting with his partner.
“You can fuck my wife but keep her name out of your mouth.” mocked one Twitter user.
“Will Smith’s marriage is open to EVERYTHING except jokes.” scoffed conservative commentator CJ Pearson on twitter.
This isn’t the first time Gervais has teased what he’d say if he were hosting the Academy Awards. Earlier this week, the The Emmy winner posted a scathing mock Oscar speech on Twitter.
“I would start with ‘Hello. I hope this show helps cheer up the common people watching at home,” the comedian snapped. “For example, if you’re unemployed, you can take comfort in the fact that even if you had a job, your salary probably wouldn’t be as high as the goodie bag all the actors just got.”
