I was spayed at 27 because I never want kids

A WOMAN has revealed she decided to get sterilized at the age of 27 because she never wants children.

The TikTok user known as OhkayOh revealed she had a tubal ligation, aka tubal ligation, before she was 30, after she got fed up with using birth control.

However, there were many viewers who disagreed with her decision, with many telling her that she would regret it or that she should try adoption.

But OhkayOh is adamant that sterilization was her “best decision” and explained that other forms of birth control have not worked for her.

She says she has lighter periods and can enjoy sex with men without worrying about getting pregnant.

And that wasn’t the only benefit, as the Virginia-based TikTok user urged others to look into sterilization if they don’t want to have children.

She captioned a now-viral video on her account, “Just a reminder that if you get spayed in your 20s you’ll get full and enjoy a quiet morning of coffee every day.”

The video has since been viewed more than 2.3 million times, and many women want to know more about the process.

When asked how much it hurt, she said: “It’s an operation and I got stitches and bruises, but after a few days I was back to normal.

“I had period cramps that hurt a lot more.”

How does female sterilization work?

There are two types of female sterilization when your fallopian tubes are blocked with clips or rings (tubal occlusion) or when implants are used to block them (hysteroscopic sterilization or HS).

During tubal occlusion surgery, the surgeon cuts through the abdominal wall and inserts a laparoscopy, which includes a light and camera.

Clips or rings are then attached to the fallopian tubes, or the fallopian tubes are tied off and severed.

Hysteroscopic sterilization does not require incisions on the abdomen, so general anesthesia is not required.

A tiny piece of titanium metal is inserted into each fallopian tube, causing scar tissue to form and block the fallopian tube.

If blocking the fallopian tubes has proven unsuccessful, the fallopian tubes can be completely removed in a procedure called a salpingectomy.
