ONE driver who towed their neighbor’s car while it was on the red line and faced the wrong thing asked online if they did the right thing.
Posting on Reddit, the person asked if they are a “fool” to report their neighbors, even though it was parked incorrectly.
The post read: “Someone in my neighborhood parked across from oncoming traffic and more than 4 meters away from the red-painted curb.
“It’s a quiet street and I feel really bad now after calling the rickshaws.
“Ps, the car was parked between 4:5pm and 9pm, am I an idiot?”
The author, lives in the US, where the law states that cars are not allowed to park on roadsides painted red.
The rules read: “Stopping, standing or parking is prohibited. The red areas are usually reserved for ambulances as well as fire hydrants.
“You cannot park in front of or block the fire hydrant. Buses may stop at the red curb if marked OK so the bus stops there.”
Drivers crossing the pond are also not allowed Park on the left side of the road, which is usually the left side in the US.
The main reason for this is so that the driver does not rush headfirst into traffic.
Regarding US parking laws, the Reddit user did the right thing to tow the car, even though the road is in a quiet residential area.
But what right do you have if you park your car improperly and someone pulls your car?
Can my car be towed if I park in the wrong place?
In the UK you can park on any side of the road as long as there are no double yellow lines and your car is not in the way or in the way.
The only time this has changed is at night, you must park in the direction of traffic.
This is because passing cars will be able to see your rear mirror when passing.
Rule 248 of the Highway Code states: “You must not park on the opposite road at night opposite direction of traffic flow unless in a recognized parking lot. “
The United States is a lot more strict about roadside parking laws.
There aren’t many roads where you can actually park on the street but if you happen to spot one, you need to remember one important thing: don’t park on the left side of the road.
It is also important not to park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant.
If your car is impeded and the fire brigade needs to use the sprinklers, your car could be damaged if they need to move it or work around your car.
You may also be fined if you miss this important thing when parking on the side of the road.
