THERE are some beauty products – like luxurious lipsticks and beautiful moisturizers – that we actively use Have fun Purchase.
But even if we reach for it every day (sometimes even more!), the same does not apply to our tried and tested deodorant sticks.
In an effort to take hers a little further, savvy shopper Leanne Canning thought she’d melt down every last bit of her deodorant—and it was well worth it.
Post on the Facebook group Save with the budgetShe explained: “Antiperspirants in stick form can be super expensive – I was shocked when I disassembled one one day and saw how much waste was left at the bottom of a ‘used’ stick!”
Leanne kept nine old Mitchum deodorants that she kept in her dresser to keep her clothes smelling fresh.
But after realizing how much was left on each floor, she decided to get her money’s worth.
First, the experienced woman scraped out all the product residue with a toothpick and threw the deodorant splinters into a glass measuring cup.
Next, she microwaved it for 45 seconds to melt it, then poured it back into the empty deodorant container.
She added: “I managed to get three extra sticks out of nine used!
“Maybe not a huge saving, but every little bit helps and my kitchen smells unreal!!”
Needless to say, the post garnered over 800 “likes” in the group and other members were blown away by the idea.
One gushed: “This is really awesome! I see some spar hacks and I’m how close, but this one really sucks.”
Another added: “Thanks for that, I hate wasting the little bit below too and now I don’t have to!”
Meanwhile, a third wrote: “That’s an ace, never thought of that! I do this with all my candles, the wax on the bottom, put the jars in pans of water, boil it until the wax is melted, then pour it into cake tins and make wax melts.”
