‘I want to stay’: The £63million Chelsea star outlines future plans following strange Tottenham rumours

Marc Cucurella has detailed his commitment to Chelsea amid shocking links with Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella intends to stay at Stamford Bridge despite rumors of a departure.

Cucurella was a huge signing for Chelsea last summer when they struck a huge deal worth up to £63m for the Spaniard.

The ex-Barcelona talent had been outstanding for Brighton and Hove Albion, which is why Chelsea transferred big money for him.

Unfortunately for Cucurella and Chelsea, Brighton’s form has not carried over to Stamford Bridge.

Cucurella has not found his best form in west London, making just 21 Premier League appearances.

Now Cucurella is struggling with Ben Chilwell to become Chelsea’s new first-choice left-back and must fight to salvage his Blues career.

Marc Cucurella signs to Chelsea

Some have wondered if Chelsea could look to capitalize on Cucurella after just a year at the club.

The mirror reported in June that Newcastle United were interested in acquiring Cucurella.

Magpies boss Dan Ashworth was working with Cucurella in Brighton and a reunion was proposed.

An even stranger rumor surfaced in early July football transfers reported that Tottenham Hotspur are interested.

That seemed strange; Spurs already have a number of players who can play at left-back in Sergio Reguilon, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie.

It just wouldn’t make sense for Tottenham to add Cucurella and he has now entrusted his future to the Blues.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official websiteCucurella has admitted he just wants to stay at Chelsea and improve in his second season.

Cucurella is keen to gain confidence under new boss Mauricio Pochettino and appears to have no plans to continue.

“I want to stay at Chelsea,” said Cucurella. “I’m very happy here, it wasn’t an easy season. When you arrive at a big club you feel a lot of pressure and when you don’t get results you feel it even more. It’s part of life and we’re learning to improve.”

“One of the most important things in a player’s confidence. Confidence is one of the most important things and we have a new season and a new coach,” he added.
