I raised FIVE kids at 24 as a single mom – I adopted them all and now I’m a mother of seven

A CHILD woman became a foster mother of 5 children at the age of 24 before adopting each child.

Beth Hyde, 30, from Indiana, USA, thinks her chances of getting married are slim, however in 2020, Beth meets her husband, Marc, 30, who also has two children and they are now a happy family of 9 people.

Beth says people are shocked to learn that the 30-year-old couple has seven children and confused how they have so many children at such a young age.

After a trip to an orphanage in Ecuador when she was 15, Beth says she knew this was going to be what she did for the rest of her life.

She added: “After finishing university, I want to work abroad in the field of orphanage care.

“But after a church service one day, I decided to call the fostering agencies. At first, I was turned down because I was 23 years old and single.

“Everybody thought I was crazy for wanting to be a foster mom at such a young age. They didn’t understand why I wanted to put myself in that situation.

“However, when I was 24 years old, I received my first two adopted children, Ava, now ten, and Sadie, now eight. They were sisters and they were two years old at the time.

“Going from no kids to two is the hardest transition.

“I had to try and understand motherhood in general, their trauma and special needs. I felt like a failure, I almost gave up and gave it back to them.”

“But I don’t give up.

“Being a foster mom is hard because it feels like I’m being given a bunch of information and then handing over a baby. It’s overwhelming.

“There were days when I felt out of my mind and unqualified but it was the greatest gift because now I have my kids.

“Ten months later, I was asked if I could bring along a one-month-old baby girl, Nora, now four, and suddenly I had three children.

“She was the perfect kid and it was a smoother transition from two kids to three.

“In early January 2017, I decided to adopt my three children.”

Then Beth decided it was time to close the house for a while so she could bond with all the kids.

We are all honored to be a part of each other’s lives. Once we were just all random strangers and now we are a family. That is a privilege.

In July 2018 she reopened her home and raised her fourth daughter, a premature baby, Mia, now 3, ready to be picked up from the NICU.

Beth said: “Four months later, my third daughter’s biological mother had another baby, Lucy, now three, and asked that she wanted me to have a baby because she knew he would be loved.

“So I brought home another infant and my fifth daughter.

“And I ended up adopting my other two little girls.

“So I’m a single mother of five and people keep telling me I’ll never find a husband because of the kids.

“I tried online dating, to no avail. I pretty much gave up hope.

“Until I was interviewed by my current husband Marc for a podcast about foster care in 2020, at the start of the pandemic.

“We talked and found out that we have many relationships, and we just keep getting to know each other.

“He has two children from his previous relationship.

“Within a month of knowing him, I knew he was going to be the man I was going to marry.”

Later that year, Beth and Marc moved in together and became engaged.

In 2021, they got married and Marc also adopted Beth’s 5 girls and they became a family of 9 at the age of 30.

“I love being part of a big family. I love watching all the kids interact and play together,” says Beth.

“The house is noisy and full of love.

“It’s been very busy and I’m constantly trying to get the laundry done but I don’t want it any other way.

“We’re all privileged to be a part of each other’s lives. Once random strangers and now we’re a family. It’s a privilege.

“People can’t believe we have seven kids and we’re only 30. It’s funny to see their faces.”

We shared how a couple adopted their son after seeing his beautiful smile on The Sun.

And a couple gave up free in their 20s to raise 15 kids – they love what they do.
