‘I know that sounds ridiculous’: Ex-Bayern star says Tottenham starter lacks creativity

Owen Hargreaves feels Son Heung-min lacks creativity which is why he prefers the Tottenham Hotspur star ‘closer to goal and closer to the shot’.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder believes that Son Heung-min performs best when he uses “quick pick-up and finish” and that he is also “the best finisher with his weaker left foot”, like himself said Premier League Productions (09/04/23 at 14:35).

Ange Postecoglou’s new look Tottenham beat newly promoted Burnley by five goals at the weekend, with Son securing a hat-trick – Ian Wright says Son and James Maddison’s partnership is “pretty scary”.

That was the first time Son had played at center this season, and Postecoglou opted to bench the struggling Richarlison.

Some of Son’s strikes, notably his first goal, were out of this world and a sign that the player who won the Golden Boot two seasons ago is back.

Hargreaves, a hugely popular player in the Hotspur Way’s four walls, added that the 31-year-old is just someone “that everyone wants to do well”.

Creativity and processing of the son

“I prefer Son, I know that sounds ridiculous when he’s closer to goal and shooting,” Hargreaves said. “I know he’s coming left and coming in.

“But I think he’s at his best when he’s quick to attack and finish. I don’t think he’s as good a creator as the Kulusevski guy. That’s why he can go left and right in the middle. I think he’s the best finisher with his weaker left. He hits the ball so clean. He can go either way. Everyone loves son. Everyone wants them to be happy.

“But I’m just happy that Tottenham are performing well. They’re going to get some crazy results this season because they’re playing so offensively.”

Can Son score 20 Premier League goals this season?

The South Korean star has done it before and he’s hoping to match those numbers again because he has the skills to do it.

Some might even argue he could score bigger numbers without Harry Kane because the Bayern Munich star has always been the central figure at Spurs, regardless of Son’s performance.

Now it will be interesting to see what Son comes up with as he is the captain of this forward line.
