A crypto lover who has his favorite logo tattooed on his arm now wants it removed after the coin was revealed to be an alleged Ponzi scheme.
The image of the tattoo was shared on imgur and then shared again on Reddit.
A handful of crypto tattoos have been shared on these sites, but the BitConnect tattoo has become more of a joke in recent weeks.
“It could be worse,” reads the title of the Reddit post.
“You could be the guy with the Bitconnect tattoo.”
“People like this guy were so convinced of it that they even got their logo tattooed on their arm,” the post reads.
Reddit users are divided on whether crypto tattoos are worth it.
“To be fair, getting a crypto tattoo is a bit weird!” commented one user.
In response, another user wrote: “I agree, but let’s assume you bought bitcoin at the price of a cent. I wouldn’t mind getting it tattooed on my forehead, chest and butt.”
“Ooff, that’s a massive scare from me,” chimed in another.
When BitConnect was at its peak in December 2017, many believed it would become the next big crypto token.
However, it crashed and closed permanently in 2018.
The BitConnect founder was recently indicted in a $2.4 billion crypto scheme.
Satish Kumbhani, 36, of India, went completely offline following the indictment and has yet to officially face a lawsuit.
According to the US Department of Justice, Kumbhani is accused of misleading investors about the cryptocurrency’s “lending program.”
He faces a handful of state charges, including fraud, money laundering, conspiracy to commit commodity price manipulation and operating an unlicensed money-transmission business.
The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Cleveland field office.
