Jet – whose real name is Diane Youdale – was one of the show’s big stars and also became a pin-up.
But the brunette bombshell, 52, has now revealed all about a horror fall during a stunt on gladiators called Pole Axe, which included a 40ft fall
Speaking of an accident she had while attempting this stunt, Diane told the Gladpod Podcast, “I didn’t have my body tensed when I hit the airbags.
“My knees literally went in my face and I broke my nose.
“A fall onto the crash mat and my nose was across my face.
“I heard the crack and could see my nose out of my left eye.”
Diane was born in 1970 in Billingham, a town in County Durham.
After a career in gymnastics, dance and choreography before finding fame with gladiators.
After a glittering run on British television, her on-screen alter ego Jet was forced to retire after sustaining an injury during the live show at Wembley Arena in 1996.
Thankfully, the fitness fanatic was able to land presenting and acting roles after the accident.
Given Diane’s popularity, it was no surprise that there was a demand to keep her on television.
She played Billy in The New Adventures of Robin Hood in 1997 and has hosted various dance shows and documentaries.
Diane also worked as a children’s TV presenter on Games World, You Bet! and Finders Keepers.
CHANGE PROFESSION
Though she hung up her Lycra suit, the gladiator star stayed connected to the sport.
In 2000 she worked as a physical education teacher’s assistant, specializing in dance and athletics.
Although Diana’s interest in sports never waned, she decided to fulfill her lifelong dream and train as a psychotherapist.
After training in a Surrey hospital, she began offering workshops and seminars.
Diana was also a regular on Big Brothers Bit On The Side.
In this BB after show, the qualified therapist gives her opinion on the way roommates think.
