“I don’t have days off”

Choose a job you love and you won’t have to work a day in your life — or never stop working.
Tom Cruise said he never took a day off in his nearly 40-year career in Hollywood.
The 59-year-old star is promoting his highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick.
When asked what he does on his days off, the actor replied that he wasn’t sure because he had never taken a PTO.
“It’s a day off for me because I’m not filming!” he said to Bella. “I’m just chilling now. I have no days off. Look, I’m lucky, I’m lucky. I’ve spent my life on film sets and traveling the world, which is something I’ve always wanted to do. So this isn’t work – I’m living the dream.”
His seemingly shocking revelation aligns with a recent anecdote from director Doug Liman, who Cruise worked with on filming 2014’s Edge of Tomorrow and 2017’s ‘American Made.’

“I lived with Tom when we were making ‘American Made,'” Liman told Deadline. “When you work with Tom, it’s a seven-day-a-week job. No matter how hardworking you are, and I consider myself to be, it’s nothing compared to Tom.”
He then recalled asking Cruise, after working “40 or 50 days straight,” if he wanted to celebrate his birthday — July 3 — with “a long weekend” over the July 4 holiday.
But the hard-working actor responded that this would be the perfect time for an eight-hour aviation meetup that they were struggling to plan.
“I’m incredibly tired and I’m like, ‘Do you want to have an eight-hour meeting on your birthday?’ He said: “Yes, that’s what I want for my birthday. I want to make a movie. This is the best birthday present.”
“No candles were blown out either,” Liman added, explaining that Cruise doesn’t eat cake to keep his body fit and toned.
Cruise is notorious for his dedication to his roles and often performs many of his own wild stunts. During a master class at the Cannes Film Festival, Cruise wondered why everyone seems so intrigued that he insists on doing his own stunts.
“Nobody asked Gene Kelly, ‘Why are you dancing?’ ” he answered.
Cruise’s work ethic and dedication to his craft seem to be paying off as the actor-producer is listed as one of the richest actors alive, according to Forbes, with his “Mission: Impossible” franchise alone, grossing more than $2.8 billion worldwide.
