While actor Evan Rachel Wood is known for roles in projects like western world and her journey to changing the domestic abuse laws in California, she has begun to share other parts of her life as well. The star has one child, Jack, with her ex-husband, actor Jamie Bell. Despite her active presence on social media, she is very private with her son. Though Wood doesn’t post pictures of her child, she revealed the struggles of being a single parent in a post for Mother’s Day 2022.

Evan Rachel Wood’s post was a Mother’s Day message to herself. As someone without a partner, Wood explained she didn’t have anyone to dedicate a note to her. So this year she decided to do a post of her own to thank herself.
“I’m a queer single working mom who is a survivor and it’s normal to feel constantly judged,” she wrote on Instagram. “I don’t get any feedback or a ‘thank you’, I have to rely on myself a lot for almost everything.” Alongside the text, Wood posted a picture of her profile holding a flower box. The actress thanks herself for everything she almost single-handedly does for her son.
Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood’s relationship ended years ago
Evan Rachel Wood and Jack’s father Jamie Bell are no longer together. According to ET Online, Jamie and Wood were married for two years between 2012 and 2014. The two fought in family court over custody of Jack, according to The Cut. As of 2017, Jamie claimed that he and Wood had good co-parenting. He is now married to actress Kate Mara.
Unfortunately, Wood’s outing to her abuser, Marilyn Manson, has met her son. Manson fans have sent her multiple death threats, and she often fears for her and her son’s safety. The validity of the threats came up in Wood’s custody hearings. She claims Bell is not supporting her journey to seek justice for her abuse. Wood told The Cut that she spent thousands on extra security measures, including bulletproof glass, to protect herself and Jack.
Even though motherhood was hard for Wood, especially after naming her abuser, Wood wasn’t going to change it for the world.
Wood claims motherhood saved her

Wood’s contribution continued. “I’m almost 9 years into motherhood and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and will ever do, but it’s also saved my life and taught me more than I could have ever imagined,” she wrote. Though motherhood has been tough, Wood is still happy to have her son.
In her interview in The Cut, the actress shares that in some ways her son has seen how she has changed thanks to her journey to get justice for her abuse. Wood says at one point, after the social media post that ended up naming Manson, Jack asked his mom, “Why are you acting so weird?” Wood claims she replied, “Because I’m free. You’ve never seen me without having that on your back.”
Wood wrote in her letter to herself that she is glad she was able to model for her son. “Thanks for always working on yourself so they don’t have to inherit all your demons,” she wrote. “Thank you for being an example of resilience and self-care.”
