I canceled my honeymoon after my wife cut out my son’s wedding photos
Looking through photos from your big day is supposed to be a happy occasion, but for this couple it was anything but.
In an online forum, a groom shared how he noticed his son was missing from his wedding photos.
The man said his 12-year-old from a previous relationship was nowhere to be seen in the snaps, despite playing a major role on the actual day.
“She loved him like he was her own”
“First I was shocked … I thought it was the idiot photographer who did it, but then [my wife] told me the truth,” he wrote.
“I couldn’t really believe it was her who asked him to be cut out,” he continued, adding that she always loved the boy like he was her own.
He then recounted instances when she had shown him genuine affection, such as decorating his room and paying for vacations for him.
“She even gave him pocket money beyond what I gave him and was always buying him stuff,” the OP said.
He then claims she “idolized” him and “hugged him immediately” and that if she hadn’t he would never have married her. Hence his confusion now…
The wife justified this by saying that she only wanted photos of the happy couple, “but that’s rubbish because there were other family members who weren’t cut out of the photos,” he said.
He also noted that the woman had kept the original photos unedited, but he was still mad at her.
He flew home early from their honeymoon
“I lost my temper because it felt like she was shutting him out and the argument escalated,” the man said. The woman said he overreacted and the situation got out of hand.
To make matters worse, this whole debacle happened on their honeymoon of all places.
At one point, she even threatened to call his son to show he didn’t mind being kicked out, but the man told her not to drag him in.
Instead, she called her mom for support, eventually telling him to “handle her over” as she “must have been overwhelmed on her big day.”
The altercation eventually led to him cutting short the honeymoon altogether and going home early.
“She wouldn’t stop crying about it and saying I’m horrible and I keep forgetting everything she’s done for my son so far…” he concluded his post.
“Why would she just cut out your son?”
Comments were mixed, with one person arguing, “FFS It’s his SON. Not a cousin or friend, his son. And why would she ONLY cut him out of the photos? That’s what worries me.”
Someone else agreed: “If she did it to other people I would buy her story but she didn’t. I don’t think she cares about the boy as much as OP thought. You don’t cut out people you love, period.”
Another was more perceptive, saying: “It sounds like he might be in every photo. If that’s the case, I can understand why his wife edited some.”
“She said she just wanted some of these. Don’t forget that my wife also kept the unedited originals, so it’s not like she threw them away/deleted them.”
