A PENNY pinching Brit has gone viral after sharing an “ingenious” cooking trick to reduce his energy bills – but some think the method is taking far too long.
London’s Adrian Ghervan sparked a frenzy after showing off his tick tock Followers as he heats up his dinners.
His inexpensive trick sees him using seven tea lights to fry an EGG.
In the video, which has garnered over 8.6 million views and 780,000 likes, the accomplished Adrian places tea lights on his stove.
He then lights it up and starts frying an egg – even claiming the technique “worked well”.
Adrian said: “I came up with this hack because, with all the uncertainty in the world right now, I’ve been thinking about what will happen if the gas goes off – or gets so expensive that we can’t afford it.
“So I thought of an alternative and it worked well”.
It took Adrian about 10 minutes to heat the oil and another three minutes to get the egg fried properly.
Adrian’s followers were impressed with the cooking hack.
One person joked: “We may have to resort to this measure if [energy] prices keep going up.”
Another even went so far as to praise the trick as “brilliant” and “really clever.”
But others weren’t so convinced – many noting the time it would take to cook the food.
One person said, “It would take an hour to boil that one egg.”
While another user added, “Pasta would take you five or six years.”
Some people were concerned that the food would not taste very good if prepared this way.
They also pointed out potential fire hazards if candles were not blown out after cooking.
