“I called off my brother’s wedding because his fiancé made a joke,” the story reads

The anonymous user begins the story by telling people that her brother met his fiancée Ella at a party three years ago and that they now plan to live happily ever after. Even if it sounds like a fairy tale, it didn’t work that way. The user notes that she and Ella never had a good relationship, as she often made fun of her makeup, made comments about her weight, had problems with her dog, or made comments about the scars on her arm.

Still, the user tried to keep the peace between them as her brother seemed genuinely in love. The situation got worse when her brother proposed to her and asked Ella to be the maid of honor. As part of her duty, Ella expected the sister to handle everything from booking the venue to paying for other arrangements. It got complicated when the user had to provide their own credit card for these payments.

While the Reddit user complied with all requests, Ella didn’t seem too happy when it came time to talk about the money. Instead, she asked the user what he wanted the money for since his dog was dead. After this incident, the Reddit user canceled all bookings and stopped answering his siblings’ calls. Although the mother felt she had done the right thing, it was no surprise that Ella disagreed.

Users react to the story

People quickly came forward and supported the user. One person wrote, “I just care about you getting your money back girl.” Another added, “So it was handled better than I would have.”

“I don’t understand people, if you want your wedding a certain way, wait and save so you can have it. What’s the rush and unnecessary drama?” said another user. “Your brother needs to wake up and smell the roses…” But no wedding roses with Ella,” said another.

“Absolutely not! “It’s not the maid of honor’s responsibility to plan the wedding let alone pay for everything,” said another. “

She tried to rob OP, was cruel and never treated them well. Why has she been silent for so long? “I should try to save the brother from a mistake,” thought another.
