I auditioned for Disney 13 times before I got the job – once they turned me down because “my eyes were too round”.

A grueling series of auditions has finally paid off for a Disney park princess, but not before the casting team made some seriously confusing comments about her facial features.

A cast member named Melanie spoke to Insider, where she discussed her experience auditioning for Disney parks and chose not to reveal her last name for privacy reasons.

insider verified that Melanie ended up in Disneyland, where she starred as Drizella, one of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters.

It took a total of 13 auditions, but Melanie eventually became a Disney cast member.

After her 12th audition, when she was rejected, Melanie asked for feedback — something Disney’s casting directors traditionally don’t give.

One director gave a critique: She reportedly said Melanie’s eyes were “too round.”

The feedback was frustrating for Melanie, who was 19 at the time of the audition.

“I can’t change that, can I? That’s how my eyes are,” Melanie explained.

“If they had said, ‘Oh, well, it’s your nose,’ or ‘It’s your teeth.’ I probably would have gone out and done something about it.”

“I mean, I was obsessed with getting this job,” she added.

Melanie was not deterred by the comment and her next audition was a complete success.

However, it wasn’t the last time she met the woman who commented on her “too round” eyes.

“When I came to Florida, the same lady who told me that was also the one who did my Florida audition and told me I was awesome,” Melanie revealed.

And Melanie also got this job and joined the cast of Disney World.

Helen Jane Planchet told Insider that feedback like the comments Melanie heard is not typical.

“Even though I’ve been turned down a thousand times, I’ve never heard, ‘Oh, you’re not good enough for this cause,'” she told the publication.

“I just didn’t hear anything.”

The Sun has reached out to Disney for comment but has received none at the time of publication.
