Hunting guides in Utah charged with ‘illegally’ baiting bears that Donald Trump Jr shot

A Utah hunting guide has been accused of illegally baiting a bear that was shot by Donald Trump Jr. during a hunt in the state, a report said.

Wade Lemon faces five years behind bars if convicted of the May 2018 murder, and prosecutors say there’s no evidence the former president’s eldest son knew about the alleged hate speech.

Mr Trump is not named in court documents, but his identity as the shooter has been confirmed, according to the Utah Department of Natural Resources The Utah Investigative Journalism Project and The Salt Lake City Grandstand.

Davis County Prosecutor Troy Rawlings also did not name Mr Trump, but said the hunter in the case was “actually a victim and now a possible witness of a fraudulent scheme to make the hunter believe that it was actually about.” a legitimate hunting situation in the Wild West”.

Mr Trump, who is an avid hunter, has taken to social media to report the trip in question.

“Lots of time in the woods at 10,000 feet. #outdoors #weekend #adventure #cabin #utah,” he wrote on Instagram on May 19, 2018, the day after the bear’s death.

The indictment alleges that Mr Lemon’s outfitters used illegal bait consisting of “a pile of grain, oil and pastries” allegedly found with a wildlife camera pointed at it, bearing the initials WLH (Wade Lemon Hunting) were directed.

Court filings say the camera allegedly contained Mr Lemon’s phone number, and a subordinate told investigators that he was told by Mr Lemon to set the bait at the location several weeks before the hunt.

The documents also state that a witness identified Mr. Lemon and his associates during the hunt and identified Mr. Lemon over the radio and gave instructions to the associates.

Trump Jr. had also been in Utah to found the hunting advocacy group, Hunter Nation.

He sparked controversy in 2019 when he and his son’s hunting trip to Mongolia cost US taxpayers $75,000. During the trip, he shot a rare mountain sheep and met the country’s president, according to Washington’s Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics.
