Disgraced first son Hunter Biden joined his father, President Biden, to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from the White House balcony on Monday night – even as a federal investigation involving Hunter and his overseas businesses continues to dominate the headlines.
Hunter Biden and his 2-year-old son Beau – named after Hunter’s older brother, who died of brain cancer in 2015 – attended the show after arriving early Monday from Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, where they spend much of their time White House had returned for the holiday weekend.
Pictures show the President holding his grandson on the Truman Balcony and reaching down to kiss him.
Hunter’s wife, South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen, joined the family on the return journey from Camp David to Washington.
Earlier, the Biden family attended a military family barbecue on the South Lawn, although the celebrations were marred by a mass shooting at a holiday parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park, killing six and injuring more than two dozen others.
In brief remarks, the President asked his guests to observe a “little minute’s silence for all these families”. Earlier, he and First Lady Jill Biden released a statement condemning the “senseless gun violence that has once again caused grief to the American community this Independence Day.”
Hunter Biden, 52, was last seen in mid-April during the White House Easter Egg Roll, which he also attended with Beau. He is being investigated by the US Attorney’s Office in Delaware for alleged tax fraud and money laundering in connection with his international operations.

Hunter Biden’s business ties in Ukraine and China were part of a series of reports published by The Post in October 2020, based on information found on a laptop he left at a Delaware computer repair shop.
Along with revelations about Hunter’s business affairs, the laptop contained photos and vivid videos detailing his runaway drug use and sexual shenanigans with hookers.
Republicans in Congress have said they intend to open hearings into Hunter Biden’s business endeavors and whether his father has been linked to or benefited from any of the deals if they win control of the House and Senate in the fall election .
The White House said the president stands by his 2019 claim that he “never spoke about ‘his foreign business dealings'” with his son — despite mounting evidence to the contrary, including a recent 2018 voicemail in which Joe Biden mentioned one New York Times article about his son’s Chinese business partner.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop also indicate that while Joe Biden was still vice president, he attended a DC dinner in 2015 with a group of his son’s associates from Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.
