Humble ISD student arrested, charged after allegedly bringing loaded gun to Kingwood Park High School

HUMBLE, TX (KTRK)– A student was arrested Tuesday morning after being accused of bringing a loaded gun to Kingwood Park High School.

The humble ISD police department confirms that the suspect is a 15-year-old boy.

Principal Wes Solomon sent a letter to parents Tuesday morning about the situation and said the suspected student ran away when questioned by school officials.

“(Tuesday) Morning we received information that a student may have brought a gun to school. We acted immediately to investigate. The student was identified and ran off campus when questioned by authorities. The student became quick arrested by our campus police officer and a gun was found in the student’s possession. The student is now in custody and the situation was resolved at 8:05 a.m. Evidence has been presented to the Harris County Attorney’s Office. The student now faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, which is a felony. The student may also face a charge of dodging on foot. We work with law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of all. “(Tuesday) Morning as I was dropping off my middle school student, I saw a young gentleman in the middle of the street being stopped by two school officials,” said Cesar Lozano, a parent at Kingwood Park High School. “He yelled at the cops. I think they may have tried to search him.”

Lozano said that while he doesn’t know what the suspect was up to with that gun on school grounds, Lozano said he’s glad nothing happened to anyone at the school his son attends.

“I’m just grateful to the Humble ISD police for being able to respond so quickly and whoever had the initiative to make the report, you know, because they potentially saved a lot of lives,” Lozano said.

The student was taken into custody and now faces charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and escaping on foot.

The humble ISD police confirm the suspect was also expelled from high school.
