Actor Hugo Speer has been fired from Disney’s imminent layoff The Full Monty Series restart after allegations of “inappropriate behavior”.
The 53-year-old is best known for his role as Guy in the 1997 film about a group of unemployed men in Sheffield who form a striptease act.
Speer was to reprise the role alongside his full month Co-stars in a revival series coming to the Disney Plus streaming service.
However, on Friday (July 1), a spokesman for Disney Plus announced that Speer’s contract on the series had been terminated following a complaint from a member of the production team and a subsequent internal investigation.
They said: “Recently we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate behavior by Hugo Speer on the set of a commissioned production.
“As policy dictates, an investigation has been launched. Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his contract with immediate effect.”
Speer firmly rejects the allegations.
In the new series, Speer was set to star as a horse alongside Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, Lesley Sharp and Paul Barber.
The show will follow the original group of friends across eight episodes as they navigate post-industrial Sheffield and the struggles faced by its crumbling health, education and employment systems.
