Hubert Credit Jr. is said to have threatened Burger King employees with tongs for groceries

A Florida man threatened Burger King employees with tongs when he jumped over the counter demanding free food on Friday, authorities said.

Hubert Credit Jr., 50, entered the Tampa fast food restaurant just after 5:30 p.m. and began explaining that he wanted free food from the workers, the Tampa Police Department said.

When the workers refused, Credit pulled a pair of pliers from his pocket and threatened them, according to authorities.

Surveillance video shows Credit hitting the counter with the tongs and knocking over one of the registers, police said. He can then be seen jumping over the service counter where he is said to have made further threats.

“Out of fear, a restaurant manager discreetly notified a citizen in the drive-thru lane using her wireless headset that they were in danger and should call 911,” the department said.

Meanwhile, police said the manager was forced to give credit-free food.

Responding officers arrived and found Credit eating the food in a stall in the men’s restroom, police said. Officers ordered Credit out of the bathroom and arrested him without incident.

Credit was charged with robbery with a deadly weapon.
