Tampa, Fla. (NEXSTAR) – After devastating tornadoes left dozens dead and thousands more picked up debris in five different states over the weekend, many people across the country are looking for ways to help.
At least 74 people have died from a tornado outbreak in Kentucky, and at least 14 have died in four other states: Illinois, Tennessee, Arkansas and Missouri. But Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said on Monday it could take days for the final death toll to be counted because of the sheer devastation left by the storms.
The American Red Cross has been there for several days now to assist families affected by the storm. Relief efforts began over the weekend.
Nexstar Media has partnered with the Red Cross on relief and recovery efforts and has begun fundraising to help those affected by the tornado. Donations can be made online now. Contribution amounts start at $10.
Nexstar will be hosting a digital fundraiser on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. EST / 9:30 a.m. CST to help those in need. WFLA’s JB Biunno and WKRN’s Laura Schweizer will host the event live and will feature NewsNation’s Brian Entin, WKRN’s Danielle Breezy, WEHT’s Ryan Witry, American Red Cross representatives and more .
