PARENTS can get up to £442 worth of free food for the year using their Healthy Start voucher.
The state-supported coupons help low-income families with young children with the cost of milk, vegetables, fruit, flour and vitamins.
The offers are now worth £4.25 each after the value was increased last April.
Eligible families for Healthy Start Project receive one or two vouchers per week for each child, depending on the age of each child.
If you have a baby younger than 12 months old, you will receive two offers per week.
That means in the first year of your child’s life you could get £442.
Pregnant women get one voucher per week, and parents also get one voucher for each child between the ages of one and four.
That means they will get at least £221 in a year.
Footballer and child food poverty campaigner Marcus Rashford MBE welcomed last April’s move to increase the value of vouchers.
“This is one of the key requirements of our Task Force and will make a huge difference to the most vulnerable people in our community,” he said.
He is urging families in need of extra support to apply for the government program.
Who is eligible for a Healthy Start voucher?
