The big day is so close we can almost taste it – so this week will be packed with people running their Christmas groceries.

And if you haven’t booked for supermarket delivery yet, it’s safe to say you’ll struggle to get one right now.

In fact, many of them were taken a few weeks ago.

If you are cautious when going to the supermarket with the new strong variant Omicron, there are several ways you can get buy delivery without a supermarket slot.

So fear not, Christmas shopping can still happen – you just need to get a little creative.

Here are some ideas to try:

Do it via Deliveroo

Many local supermarkets are now available on Deliveroo, so you don’t have to worry about getting delivery.

Simply add the items you want to your cart on the delivery platform and they’ll be packed and delivered to your door – usually within 40 minutes.

If something is out of stock one day, try again the next day – or browse other supermarkets on Deliveroo.

Ask someone to do it on TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit is a platform that connects people with others willing to help with cleaning, home repairs, errands and more – in return you get paid.

So if you can’t get to the stores before Christmas, why not see if someone else is willing to do it for you.

According to the platform, the average price for a shopping project is £13-£42 – and of course you’ll need to pay for groceries.

Ask a location friend to add your groceries

There’s a chance that someone in your family or a friend of yours may have pre-booked a delivery period, so you can always ask if they can add your shopping to theirs and have it shipped. money for them or not.

Then you just go and get it from their home once it’s delivered – or you can offer to pay a small delivery fee if they can deliver it to you.

Try alternative grocery delivery services

The well-known players of the grocery world (Aldi, Ocado, Waitrose, Tesco, etc.) are not the only retailers offering groceries.

There are several other smaller food delivery services, such as Gorillas and Bother.

You should also consider whether there are local businesses in your area that are doing discounted shipping.

See if anyone you know has a Click and Collect location

As well as delivery slots, supermarkets also offer Click and Collect bookings.

So if you know anyone with a Click and Collect location, you can ask if they can add your groceries to their order.

Also, there may be some showing up this week after a cancellation, so you should keep checking to see if you have a car and can go there to pick it up.
