The Elden Ring is home to many difficult bosses and although Margit the Fell Omen may have been one of the first, he is still capable of killing even the most skilled players if they’re not careful. This mighty man wields a huge wooden staff and can summon a sword and lightning hammer, able to quickly destroy those who dare stand in his way.
Resist the desire to enter Stormveil Castle and pass game story, it will be necessary to defeat Margit. However, doing so can prove especially difficult if you don’t know the best strategies for defeating him. Luckily, our Margit boss guide has some tips and tricks that you can use to get rid of Fell’s Omen for good.
Location of Margit in Elden Ring
Margit the Fell Omen is extremely easy to find in the Elden Ring. The boss battle with Margit occurred on the narrow causeway leading to the gates of Stormveil Castle. You will need to defeat this giant giant if you want to get to the next location and continue your adventure.
How to defeat Margit in Elden Ring
To defeat Margit in the Elden Ring, you need to first make sure you lure him away from the edges of the arena and into the center of the causeway. This will greatly reduce his chances of knocking you out of the arena, while also giving you plenty of room to dodge his 360-degree turns and wide-area attacks.
Instead of rushing over to Margit and rushing in to do some close-range hits, just keep your distance and wait for him to use one of your slower attacks. His overhead staff attack, for example, is extremely vulnerable and well communicated.
Wait patiently for Margit to finish charging, and as soon as he hits the ground with his staff, run forward to do a few quick hits, then retreat to a safe distance. Despite her huge size, Margit is quite agile and often jumps backwards to avoid attacks.
This can be especially frustrating for any player using the Elden Ring’s slower weapon. However, you can counter Margit’s mobility by carrying Bone Darts and Throwing Daggers into battle. Whenever the giant falls behind, throw your bullets to force him back into melee situations.
Not only will this help you sustain the attack, but it will also prevent him from recovering any Super Armor. During his second phase, Margit will summon a giant hammer, which he will leap into the air and smash into the ground.
When he jumps into the air, we recommend sprinting to the other end of the causeway to avoid getting hit. Upon landing, Margit will be immobilized for a few seconds, so do some hits before backing off.
Summoning any of Spirit Ash’s companions during this phase will also distract him, giving you more of a chance to quickly skim his remaining health bar.
Location of Margit’s Shackle Elden Ring
For those who are still having a hard time defeating Margit, there’s a purchasable item that makes the early stages of the fight super easy. After completing the encounter in Murkwater Cave, the player will be able to purchase Margit’s Shackle. This merchant was located halfway up the river north of Lake Agheel.
Once you’ve obtained Margit’s Shackle, equip it to your quick menu item and use it to trap Margit in a golden energy source. Margit’s Shackle can be cast twice per battle early in the fight, giving you precious seconds to knock down his health bar.
Summon the Sorcerer Rogier to help
Of course, if you wanted to call for some fun cooperation, then you could use the Summoning Mark of the Sorcerer Rogier. This friendly mage can be summoned directly outside of Margit’s arena, so be sure to interact with this mage before entering the boss fight.
Sorcerer Rogier is a friendly mage who will use his magical skills to bombard giants with ranged spells, giving you even more DPS. Rogier will also distract you, helping you heal with Flask of Crimson Tears when Margit turns her back on you.
