Houston traffic: The crash that killed the mother on Highway 59 forced southbound lanes near Kingwood Drive to close, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – All southbound lanes of Highway 59 are closed until an investigation into a fatal crash just north of Kingwood Drive is completed, police said. Houston said.

Fire crews at the scene said one person had died following the collision between the two vehicles at around 7pm on Sunday.

Police said there was a small accident on the highway. That’s when a woman driving a red sedan stopped in the lane after the collision to check on her children in the back when a truck tried to avoid her car but hit her, according to Sgt. Clark with the Houston Police Department.

Then a third crash occurred, according to police.

A red truck crashed into the back of a sedan, sending the mother of one child away. Police said she was found dead at the scene.

The driver of the car that hit the mother is still at the scene and is coordinating with police.
