Houston traffic: Main lanes closed on I-45 after two car fires

The crash occurred around 1:44 am near Airtex. An ambulance with two occupants was traveling southbound when a driver of a Ford Focus traveling at high speed struck them from behind and steered them onto the shoulder of the southbound lane, MPs say.
Both vehicles burst into flames on the shoulder.
A Harris County deputy in a squad car traveling in the southbound lane observed the vehicle fire. As the deputy slowed to help, a vehicle pulled into the next lane behind him and was hit by a Tahoe.
The Tahoe then diverted and hit the squad car.
No injuries were reported in either accident.
MPs said they are checking whether the driver of the Focus was drunk.
Officials said there was no one in the back of the ambulance.
The highway’s lanes opened just before 5:30 a.m
