Houston traffic: Accident killing pedestrian on Gulf Freeway forces Telephone Road to close, causing massive traffic jams

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A fatal accident involving a pedestrian is causing massive traffic jams on the Gulf Freeway Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident happened just after 5 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway towards Telephone Street.

Transtar cameras show the Telephone Road exit had to be closed, resulting in only one lane of traffic passing.

Motorists are urged to take 610 South Loop, the Beltway, or Telephone Road as alternate routes.

Those coming off 225 and jumping onto I-45 are advised to loop north onto I-10 to the Baytown East Freeway.
