Houston leaders want to discuss the investigation into the shooting of 14-year-old Axel Turcios

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Houston city leaders will hold a press conference beginning May 6 to discuss the shooting death of a teenager.

The teenager was identified by his family to ABC13 as 14-year-old Lamar High School student Axel Turcios.

Police say the shooting happened outside the apartment complex where he lived on Ella Lee Lane on the night of Friday May 6. Turcios later died in hospital.

At the scene, police told ABC13 that two Hispanic men approached the teenager. They weren’t sure at the time if both men were shooting at the boy.

HPD officials initially said the teenager’s shoes were stolen. A week later, they told ABC13 the information was preliminary and could not confirm this, but said one or more items were stolen from the teenager, but they did not specify what.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Police Commissioner Troy Finner and the Turcios family will speak on the HPD at 2 p.m. The press conference will be broadcast live in the video player at the top of this page.

At this time, no arrests have been made or charges have been filed in connection with the teenager’s shooting.
