Houston crime: Police are looking for Melanie Bazan, who is accused of shooting dead two sisters on Village Way and Woodridge Drive

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) — Police are searching for a 20-year-old woman accused of shooting dead two sisters on Houston’s south side last month.

Melanie Bazan, 20, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She wasn’t arrested.

Police released an earlier mug shot of Bazan from 2021 in hopes someone might have information on where she is.

Houston police officers were dispatched to a shooting at approximately 10:15 p.m. on July 17 at an apartment complex at 7100 Village Way.

Investigators said a vehicle pulled up and a woman in the back seat began arguing with the sisters.

Police say shots were fired and the vehicle sped away.

At the scene, police found two women who had been shot – a 21-year-old and a 28-year-old.

The two victims were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

According to the indictment, the victims told police they got into a verbal altercation with a man and his girlfriend.

Police contacted the man, who admitted his girlfriend had fired shots from his vehicle, the documents say.

This friend was later identified as Bazan.

It was unclear whether the friend would also be charged.
